Sunday, October 1, 2023 - A Roland man was arrested Sept. 12 and charged with indecent exposure, reports show.
Joseph Paul Saylor-Johnson, 24, faces up to 10 years in prison, a fine of up to $20,000 or both if he is convicted of the felony charge.
On Sept. 12 around 3:45 p.m., an investigator with the Roland Police Department was dispatched to Roland Road and Shady Lane, where a Fort Smith police officer notified him that a male wearing all-black clothing had been displaying his genitals to the public.
While trying to contact the suspect, who was later identified as Saylor-Johnson, the Roland officer noticed several juveniles in the same area.
The Roland officer asked the Fort Smith police lieutenant to make a statement about his interaction with the suspect.
According to a statement, the FSPD officer said he had been driving east on U.S. 64 when he saw the male suspect open his coat and expose himself.
The Fort Smith officer also stated that while he was parked and calling the Roland Police Department to inform them of the situation, the suspect began walking north on Roland Road, reportedly following some juveniles with his genitals still exposed.
Saylor-Johnson was taken to the Sequoyah County jail.
