Monday, December 5, 2022 - An arrest warrant was filed Dec. 1 for a Roland man who police say assaulted and beat a man Nov. 12 with a .22-caliber pistol and an air rifle.
Joshua Eli Summers, 28, was charged with assault and battery, as well as first-degree robbery. Each charge carries a sentence of 10 years in prison.
On. Nov. 12, a Roland officer was dispatched to 505 Mayfield for an unknown emergency. Dispatch advised that the only information available was that a passerby saw a man lying in the front yard with a large laceration on his head.
Once at the scene, the officer saw a white male later identified as Christopher Amundson standing shirtless with blood on his chest and neck area holding a shirt on top of his head. Amundson told police that two Black males forced their way into his home through the front door.
Once inside, Amundson said, the assailants attacked him with various objects while telling him never to mess with their sister. Amundson said it appeared that one of the men was pointing a handgun at him, while the other assaulted him.
Amundson was transported to an area hospital and later released.
The following day, Amundson went to the police department to give a statement. He said Summers had asked him to come to his house. While there, Summers, who seemed nervous, locked the door. Moments later, Amundson said, he heard a knock on the door. Summers opened the door and the two men entered the home and reportedly attacked Amundson.
