River Valley Workforce Development Summit and Career Fair Set for Oct. 10 in Sallisaw

Saturday, September 20, 2025 — Business leaders, educators, policymakers, and job seekers from across the region will gather in Sallisaw on Friday, October 10, for the first-ever River Valley Workforce Development Summit and Career Fair. The full-day event runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Sallisaw Middle School, offering a unique opportunity to connect, collaborate, and explore solutions for strengthening the River Valley’s workforce.


The summit will feature a packed schedule of presentations, panel discussions, and interactive workshops addressing critical topics such as job training, career readiness, industry needs, and economic development. Speakers will share insights on workforce trends, recruitment strategies, and the skills needed to support the region’s growing economy.

Key speakers include the vice chancellor for government relations with the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, Dr. Jarrett Jobe, and the deputy chief of the Cherokee Nation, Bryan Warner. Both will bring forward-thinking strategies for building a stronger, more resilient workforce.

In addition to the summit, attendees can visit a free career fair, where local employers, educators, and training providers will share opportunities and resources. Job seekers can connect directly with hiring businesses, explore training programs, and even pick up a free goodie bag (available to the first 150 visitors).


Organizers say the goal of the event is to unite educators, industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and job seekers to build stronger communities and ensure the River Valley remains competitive in a changing economy.
