Public Forum Set for Sallisaw Mayoral Candidates

Tuesday, January 20, 2026 — A public political forum has been scheduled to allow voters to hear directly from the candidates seeking the three-year term as mayor of Sallisaw.

The forum, sponsored by KXMX and the Sequoyah County Times, will take place Monday, January 26, at 6 p.m. at the People Inc. Conference Center in Sallisaw. The event will also be livestreamed on the Mix 105.1 Facebook page for those unable to attend in person.

Candidates in the mayoral race include Marley Abell, Kenny Moody, and Jeanne Moore. All candidates are asked to confirm their participation by January 16.

Shannon Vann will serve as moderator for the evening. The order for opening statements, questions, and closing statements will be determined by a random drawing before the forum.

Each candidate will be given three minutes for opening and closing statements. Candidates will have two minutes to answer each question posed by the moderator, followed by two minutes for the remaining candidates to respond. Time limits will be strictly enforced, with 30-, 15-, and 5-second warnings provided using color-coded signs. Once time expires, the moderator will move the discussion to the next question.

To ensure fairness and focus, electronic devices will not be permitted during the forum.
