Perry's Office Supply awarded Sallisaw Chamber Member of the Month

Gus Perry of Perry’s Office Supply received the September Member of the Month award during the Sallisaw Chamber Membership luncheon, held at People Inc. last Wednesday.

Perry and his wife Margaret acquired Perry’s Office Supply in April 1978. In 1979, Perry joined the Sallisaw Lions Club and has since held numerous offices within the organization.

Perry was instrumental in founding Sallisaw Lions Rodeo Inc., where he served as the organization's president for 30 years. His contributions earned him the prestigious Melvin Jones Fellowship Award for humanitarian services from the Lions Club International Foundation.

Perry has also been an active member of the Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce, serving on various boards, as a member of the Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Club, and earning both the Chuck Sainer Community Spirit Award and a Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Chamber’s keynote speaker for September was the Sallisaw Now Coalition (SNC). The SNC became an official coalition in 2007, with the city of Sallisaw becoming the fiscal agent in 2015.

The SNC engages in a variety of community programs, including Narcan training, alcohol compliance checks, bullying prevention, drug take-back events, and school-based prevention programs.

The Coalition staff also runs youth coalitions at Sallisaw, Central, and Gans high schools and has distributed over 2,600 boxes of Narcan to rural fire departments, schools, and law enforcement agencies.
