People Inc. Receives Agency of the Year

Tuesday, June 10, 2025— People Inc. was named Agency of the Year during the Oklahoma Association of Youth Services (OAYS) annual awards banquet, held last Thursday at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Catoosa.

This prestigious honor, presented by OAYS Executive Director and CEO Dr. Peter John A. Messiah, marks the inaugural presentation of the award, designed to recognize an agency that exemplifies excellence beyond service delivery.

“This award is for an organization that sets the bar, not just in how they operate, but in how they lead, how they respond, and how they show up for their community,” Dr. Messiah said. “It honors a team that doesn’t just meet expectations; they exceed them. They don’t wait for direction; they create the roadmap.”

Dr. Messiah described People Inc. as a standout example in Oklahoma’s youth services landscape, an organization that has become “the answer” in its region for how to reach, support, and walk alongside children, youth, and families.

People Inc.'s programs were praised as not only high-quality but also responsive, culturally attuned, and forward-thinking, reflecting a deep commitment to the real needs of the communities they serve. The organization’s staff was praised for being skilled, dedicated, and mission-driven.

At the center of this excellence is Executive Director Jim Harris, recognized for his visionary leadership and unwavering belief in the power of community-based change.

Dr. Messiah ended the presentation, stating, “Jim is not just steering the ship; he’s cultivating a crew that is equipped, inspired, and ready for the work. So, thank you for leading with vision, and thank you to the People Inc. team for being the example."
