OSBI Investigating Officer-Involved Shooting in Webbers Falls



Monday, April 26, 2021 - The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred on the west side of the Webbers Falls Lock and Dam off Powerhouse Road in Muskogee County on Saturday. The Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the OSBI.


According to the OSBI's initial investigation the Webbers Falls Police Department responded to the west side of the Webbers Falls Lock and Dam to arrest Benjamin Ridley, 29, of Webbers Falls, for outstanding warrants.


Officers with the police department notified the Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office of the situation and deputies responded to the scene.


Upon arriving at the scene officers discovered Ridley was armed with a handgun. Officers fired shots and Ridley was killed.


A handgun was recovered at the scene.


The name(s) of officers involved in the shooting have not been released at this time.


The OSBI investigation is open and ongoing. Upon completion of the OSBI investigation, agents will submit a report summarizing their investigation to the District Attorney’s Office. The District Attorney will determine whether or not to file charges.
