Saturday, September 30, 2023 - A Vian woman perished in a single-vehicle accident Saturday morning and another Vian woman was hospitalized.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) report, the accident occurred at approximately 11:51 a.m. on US-64 and north 4550 Road on the westbound side, approximately two miles east of Vian.
83-year-old Beverly Asbill was reportedly driving a 1990 Toyota Tercel westbound on US-64 when the vehicle ran off the roadway to the right rolling approximately one time before coming to a rest.
A passenger in the vehicle, Kimberlee Odonnell, 50, was ejected from the vehicle. Odonnell was transported by Pafford EMS to NHS Sequoyah in Sallisaw where she was pronounced deceased.
Asbill was transported by Air Evac to St Johns Hospital in Tulsa with head injuries.
The OHP report stated that Asbill was wearing a seatbelt. Odonnell was not.
OHP was assisted at the scene by Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Office, Pafford EMS, McKey Fire Department and Air Evac.
