Tuesday, October 21, 2025 — The Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS) has announced that SNAP payments are expected to be suspended starting November 1, 2025, unless Congress resolves the shutdown before that date.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has informed Oklahoma and other states that federal funding for SNAP will be temporarily halted until a federal budget is approved.
As a result, no new SNAP benefits will be issued in November unless federal funding is restored. Recipients are encouraged to carefully plan their use of any remaining funds on their EBT cards prior to October 31.
OKDHS also advises beneficiaries to safeguard their remaining benefits by locking EBT cards when not in use, as electronically stolen funds are not reimbursable.
Despite the potential pause in benefits, OKDHS will continue to process new applications and renewals, enabling faster distribution once funding resumes.
Officials said updates will be provided through state and local news outlets as the situation develops.
