Friday, August 6, 2021 - Oklahoma’s annual sales tax holiday begins today and ends Sunday at midnight.
Scheduled each year during the first weekend in August this savings event is planned just in time for back-to-school shopping. During this holiday, sales taxes will not be applied to most clothing items under $100.
According to the Oklahoma Tax Commission, items that are eligible for the tax-free weekend include, but are not limited to:
Aprons for both household and shopping
Baby blankets
Bathing suits and caps
Belts
Boots, shoes, socks, sandals and insoles
Coats, scarves, jackets and rainwear
Diapers for children and adults, including disposable diapers
Formal wear, neckties and wedding apparel
Gloves, mittens, hats, earmuffs and caps
Underwear
Uniforms, athletic and non-athletic
The sales tax holiday does not apply to “accessories,” which may include but is not limited to:
Handbags
Jewelry
Luggage
Rental wear
Umbrellas
Wallets
Watches
The savings applies to both in-store and online purchases.
