Muldrow Woman Injured in Sunday Wreck






Monday, April 26, 2021 - A Muldrow woman was injured in a collision that occurred Sunday at approximately 8:45 a.m. The accident took place on County Road 1125 East and County Road 4724 South, 1/2 mile south of Muldrow.


According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) report, Raychel Girty, 30, of Sallisaw was driving a 2018 Dodge Journey northbound on 4724 CR South. Girty failed to negotiate a curve on 1125 CR East and departed the roadway to the left. The vehicle entered a ditch and struck a tree head on.


A passenger in the vehicle, Amber Hooper, 36, of Muldrow was pinned for approximately 30 minutes and eventually extricated by the Muldrow Fire Department. She was transported by Pafford EMS to Baptist Health in Ft. Smith. Hooper suffered trunk and internal injuries and a fractured back.


The report states that Girty was intoxicated at the time of the accident. It does not state the extent of her injuries or if any were received.


Seatbelts were in use by Girty but not by Hooper.


The OHP was assisted at the scene by Muldrow Police and Fire Departments and Pafford EMS.
