Muldrow Cherokee Community Organization to Host Food Giveaway

ree

Thursday, November 20, 2025 — The Muldrow Cherokee Community Organization (MCCO) will host a community-wide food giveaway this Saturday, beginning at 7:30 a.m. The event is open to the public, regardless of CDIB status, as MCCO works to support local families facing food insecurity.

Organizers say they understand many elders may need transportation to the event and encourage community members to help ensure they can attend.

During the giveaway:

·        Each vehicle will receive one box of dry goods and one package of chicken breasts.

·        A maximum of two boxes per vehicle will be allowed only if transporting an elder needing assistance.

·        The elder must be present in the vehicle to receive the additional box.

MCCO leaders emphasized that these rules are necessary to meet the rising demand for food in the area. As the number of families needing help continues to grow, volunteers are working hard to stretch resources and ensure that as many people as possible receive food.

“The need for food is growing weekly,” organizers said. “We appreciate everyone’s understanding as we work to support our elders and families. Please take only your share so others in the community can receive help as well.”

Community members are also reminded to respect local blessing boxes, leave items behind for others, and avoid overuse. MCCO encourages residents to look out for their neighbors, especially elders, children, individuals with disabilities, those who are ill, and those who are unemployed.

The organization also welcomes volunteers, noting that food distributions are physically demanding and require a large team to run smoothly.

For more information or to volunteer, community members are encouraged to contact the Muldrow Cherokee Community Organization.

The Muldrow Cherokee Community Organization is located at 603 N. Main Street in Muldrow.
