Medication Take-Back Event Set for October 31 at Clif’s Pharmacy

ree

Saturday, October 25, 2025 — A medication take-back event is scheduled to take place at Clif’s Pharmacy in Sallisaw on Friday, October 31, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event is part of National Drug Take Back Day, a biannual initiative that encourages, assists, and educates individuals on the safe disposal of unused or expired medications.

Improper disposal of medications can pose significant health and safety risks. Children may mistake medications for candy and accidentally overdose if they access them. Unused prescriptions can also fall into the wrong hands and be sold illegally, while discarding them in landfills can contaminate the environment.

Sallisaw NOW Coalition (SNC) staff will be present to assist with safe medication disposal. Accepted items include prescribed, over-the-counter, expired, or unwanted medications. Needles will not be accepted; however, SNC provides free safe sharps disposal containers upon request.

SNC also offers free resources to Sequoyah County residents, including medication lock boxes, Narcan, sharps containers, and prescription drug disposal packets, all designed to promote safe medication storage and prevent misuse.

For more information, contact the Sallisaw NOW Coalition at 918-208-0733 or visit www.sallisawnow.com.
