MCCO to Host Free Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway in Muldrow

Sunday, July 19, 2026 — The Muldrow Cherokee Community Organization (MCCO) is inviting families to the 3^rd annual Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway on Wednesday, July 22. The event will be offering free school supplies and valuable resources to help students start the new school year prepared and ready to learn. The event will be held at the MCCO from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., or while supplies last.

This year's giveaway includes 250 elementary backpacks and 250 high school backpacks, each filled with school supplies. Backpacks will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Children must be present on the day of the event to receive a backpack.

In addition to school supplies, families can take advantage of several free services available during the event. The Sallisaw Health Department Mobile Unit will be on site providing immunizations and school physicals, while volunteers will also offer free haircuts, female hygiene kits, and dental hygiene kits to help students head back to the classroom with confidence.

Organizers encourage families to arrive early, as supplies and services are available only while they last. The annual event aims to ease the financial burden of back-to-school shopping while ensuring local students have the tools and resources they need for a successful start to the school year.

The MCCO is located at 603 N. Main St. in Muldrow.
