Local farmers markets to open April 2

March 29, 2022 - It’s finally that time of year when local farmers markets open up to the public. Farmers markets offer the opportunity for consumers to purchase goods such as vegetables, fruits, and farm-fresh eggs straight from their local farmers.

The Sallisaw and Vian farmers markets will both open on Saturday, April 2 from 8 a.m. to noon. Each location will offer a variety of unique items, ranging from fresh produce to homemade crafts and beauty products.

The Vian Farmers Market will be open the first Saturday of every month from 8 a.m. to noon. The market will begin in April and run through September.

The Sallisaw Farmers Market will be open every Saturday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.

The Sallisaw Farmers Market held their annual meeting on March 8 and had an overwhelming response.

In prior years, the group had close to a dozen people that showed up to the meeting, but this year there were around sixty individuals in attendance. That means the public will have many options to choose from this year.

To see guidelines and rules for selling products and vendor openings, you can check out the Vian Farmers Market or the Sallisaw Farmers Market Facebook pages.
