Thursday, September 15, 2022 - A local 16-year-old boy was seriously injured in a traffic accident Thursday.
The minor was reportedly driving a tractor on Highway 64 west of Sallisaw near the Sallisaw Creek park when he was struck from behind by a semi truck.
According to reports, the boy was thrown several feet and was then struck by a dump truck.
He was transported by life-flight to a Tulsa hospital and admitted into the trauma center. He received a severe concussion and a broken rib but is expected to make a full recovery.
The driver of the semi truck received only minor injuries.
