Saturday, August 21, 2021 - A Friday single-vehicle accident left a Roland couple seriously injured. The accident occurred on US-Highway 59, 2.2 miles north of Sallisaw.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) report, Bob Beaty, 62, of Roland was northbound on US-Highway 59 around 5:38 p.m. when he lost control while driving on a wet roadway. The 2018 Dodge Ram Beaty was driving departed the road to the right going into a ditch rolling ¼ time coming to rest on the passenger side.
Beaty was transported by Pafford EMS to Baptist Health in Ft. Smith, Ark. He was admitted in fair conditions with head and trunk internal injuries.
A passenger in the vehicle, Vicki Beaty, 64, of Roland was also injured in the wreck. Vicki Beaty was transported by Air Evac to Washington Regional in Fayetteville, Ark where she was admitted in fair condition with a head injury.
Assisting the OHP were Sequoyah County Sheriff's Office, Brushy Fire Department, Pafford EMS and Air Evac.
