Greenleaf State Park Kicks Off the New Year with Family-Friendly January Activities

Saturday, January 4, 2026 — Greenleaf State Park is ringing in 2026 with various hands-on, family-friendly activities that invite visitors to get outside, have fun, and learn something new all month long.

On Sundays in January, families can settle in for Rock Painting at 11 a.m., followed by the Awesome Possum Craft at 1 p.m., giving kids a chance to be creative while learning about the wildlife that calls the park home.

Thursdays are all about nature, with a Turtle Meet and Greet at 1 p.m. and Pinecone Bird Feeders at 3 p.m., offering a relaxed way to connect with animals and give back to the environment.

Friday afternoons bring even more hands-on fun, starting with Teeny Terrariums at 1 p.m., where participants can build their own tiny ecosystems, followed by a Discovery Hike at 3 p.m. to explore the park’s trails and natural features.

Saturday mornings kick off with Merlin Birdin’ at 9 a.m., and visitors are encouraged to bring binoculars if they have them. The afternoon continues with a Reptiles Program at 1 p.m. and a Leaf Litter Critter Hunt at 3 p.m., offering close-up looks at some of the park’s smallest and most interesting creatures.

With something happening nearly every day, Greenleaf State Park makes it easy for families, nature lovers, and the simply curious to start the new year outdoors and make the most of January.
