Greenleaf State Park Announces Spring Break Activities

March 16, 2026 — Families visiting Greenleaf State Park during spring break will have a full week of hands-on learning and outdoor fun March 17–22. The activities, hosted throughout the park, are designed to encourage exploration, creativity, and appreciation of nature.
On Tuesday, March 17, visitors can join a Discovery Hike at 1 p.m., meeting at the Discovery Center for a mini hike focused on observing the small details of nature. Participants will collect samples to study under a microscope. At 3 p.m., guests can celebrate the season with a special St. Patrick’s Day craft.
Wednesday’s activities begin at 1 p.m. with “Holy Moly Roly Poly,” a program about isopods and their role in the environment, followed by creating a roly poly craft to take home. At 3 p.m., a second Discovery Hike will depart from the park office for a 45-minute guided hike with the park naturalist.
On Thursday, March 19, families can make pinecone bird feeders at 1 p.m., using simple materials to help attract backyard birds. At 3 p.m., participants will create Paper Plate Birds, choosing a native songbird to design.
Friday’s events include Bug Hotels at 1 p.m., where guests can upcycle materials into shelters for insects. At 3 p.m., the park will offer Edible Fire, a program focused on campfire safety and fire-building techniques, followed by a creative edible campfire activity.
Saturday, March 21, features several programs beginning with Teeny Terrariums at 11 a.m., allowing participants to create a small portable ecosystem. At 1 p.m., a reptile program will highlight Oklahoma’s native reptiles, followed by opportunities to visit with reptile ambassadors. At 3 p.m., guests can take part in a leaf litter hunt with the naturalist to explore the ecosystem beneath the forest floor.
The week concludes on Sunday, March 22, with rock painting at 11 a.m., open to all ages, where participants can create a nature-themed design. At 1 p.m., a special craft activity will be offered in the Discovery Center to celebrate the season.
Park officials encourage families to stop by and enjoy the variety of educational and interactive programs planned throughout the week.
