Gathering on Polecat Creek

The Rural Communities Initiative Foundation (RCIF) is hosting its annual fundraiser, "Gathering on Polecat Creek," on September 14 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

This event will be filled with activities for all ages. RCIF, a nonprofit organization, supports communities in northern Sequoyah County and southern Adair County. Their mission is to help community members achieve self-sufficiency by offering various services such as yard work, tree and brush removal, building handicap ramps, repairing roofs and floors, providing firewood, and offering transportation.

The event will feature a variety of food for purchase, arts and crafts booths, a horseshoe tournament, a kids' bounce house, a stickball tournament, bingo, and a cornhole tournament at noon. Special appearances include Smokey the Bear, and the main event, Native American wrestling, will take place at 4 p.m. Concessions will be available during the main event.

Raffle tickets for items will be 2 for $5 or 5 for $10. A drawing for a TV, sponsored by KI BOIS Community Action of Sequoyah County, will be free to enter. The drawing will occur after the main event, and participants must be present to win.

The RCIF center is located at 474894 St. Hwy 101 in Muldrow.
