Sunday, June 29, 2025 — As Fourth of July celebrations approach, local cities across Sequoyah County are reminding residents to follow safety guidelines and local ordinances when lighting fireworks this holiday season. Whether you're planning a backyard celebration or simply want to stay informed, knowing when and where fireworks can be used is essential.
In Sallisaw, the use of personal fireworks is allowed from July 1 through July 4 and again on New Year’s Eve, from 10:00 a.m. to midnight each day. Fireworks are not allowed in the downtown business district.
Over in Roland, residents may discharge fireworks only on July 3 and 4, and they must do so on their own private property. Fireworks may be used from dawn until 11:00 p.m. The town strictly prohibits the use of fireworks in public parks, streets, or near public buildings and reminds residents to always clean up debris and be considerate of neighbors and pets.
The Town of Muldrow allows the use of fireworks from July 1 to July 4, between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and midnight. However, the town has banned fireworks from being discharged on public property, including town-owned parks. Muldrow officials encourage all residents to celebrate responsibly and be respectful of safety guidelines.
With community fireworks displays planned throughout the county and neighborhood celebrations expected, these ordinances are meant to balance festive fun with safety and respect for fellow residents. Local law enforcement will be monitoring for violations, and city leaders encourage residents to report any unsafe or illegal activity.
For more details, residents can contact their city hall or visit their municipality’s official website.
