Drive-thru live Nativity scheduled for Dec. 3 and 4 in Sallisaw

Monday, November 29, 2021 - Oak Ridge Assembly of God in Sallisaw will once again be hosting their drive-thru live nativity scene on December 3 and 4 after the event was cancelled last year due to COVID. The drive-thru live nativity scene will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. each night.

Pastor Brandon Harris said that he is new to the church and is excited about the event along with changes the church will be making at the beginning of the year. The church built a new facility roughly six years ago and according to Harris the church has many new members in attendance.

"We feel like this year’s drive-thru live nativity scene will represent a new start, sort of like a re-grand opening for Oak Ridge Assembly," Harris stated.

Micki Kimble, a member of the live nativity, said she and her daughter have participated in this event for several years now. Kimble said, with the exception of last year, the event has been held every year since 2010.

"It is a great opportunity for families to get out of the house and spend quality time together while learning about the story of Christ," Kimble stated.

Harris explained that the church is eager to become more involved with the City of Sallisaw and the surrounding community so they can connect in ways that lead to collaborations with churches and organizations in the area.

Prior to making his move to Oak Ridge Assembly of God, Harris served as the youth pastor at Evangel Temple in Fort Smith. Harris is also a member of the 188th Air National Guard of Fort Smith.

Harris said that the drive-thru event is free and encourages everyone to come out as they share the story of Christ. The church will be revamping and modernizing at the beginning of 2022 and will be launching a new website by mid-January, Harris added.

The church is located at 2875 South Kerr, Sallisaw, on U.S. Highway 59. Services are held every Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m., Sunday evening at 6:00 p.m., and on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m.
