Tuesday, August 12, 2025 - District 27 District Attorney Jack Thorp was honored last Friday, August 8, as the recipient of the Oklahoma Bar Association Prosecutor of the Year Award. This prestigious award is awarded annually based on nominations from criminal defense attorneys across Oklahoma.
“This is a huge honor,” Thorp said. “The fact that the nomination came from the criminal defense bar is incredible. I have always emphasized fairness and integrity in my work, and I’m truly grateful for this recognition.”

Thorp, a 27-year veteran prosecutor, has served as District Attorney for District 27 since October 2017, covering Adair, Cherokee, Sequoyah, and Wagoner counties.
Thorp previously earned the Oklahoma District Attorneys Association’s David L. Moss Award for District Attorney of the Year in both 2020 and 2023.
In addition, Thorp recently served as president of the District Attorneys’ Council and the Oklahoma District Attorneys Association for the 2024–2025 term.
