Tuesday, January 23, 2024 - The City of Sallisaw has announced upcoming changes to their channel lineup.
"In an attempt to maintain affordable retransmission fees for our video customers, the city has decided not to renew our agreement with Sinclair Networks," stated City Manager Keith Skelton.
The main channel this will affect is KTUL Channel 8 out of Tulsa. KTUL Channel 8 is a duplicate of KHBS ABC- Ft Smith Channel 10. Due to Sallisaw's location, DiamondNet is required to carry the Big 4 Channels (ABC-NBC-CBS-FOX) out of Northwest Ark.
Over the years, DiamondNet has tried to maintain the Out of Market Tulsa Duplications due to their viewers' preferences. "DiamondNet can no longer justify these huge price increases from these programmers and their requirements to carry additional stations as well," Skelton said.
Effective January 31, 2024, the following channels will no longer be available for viewing:
Channel 8 KTUL Tulsa
Channel 28 Comet
Channel 70 TBD
Channel 148 Tennis
