Crowe Investment Company's Larry Crowe Named Chamber Member of the Month

Wednesday, 3, 2026 — Community investment, economic development, and rural renewal were among included topics during the Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce's monthly membership meeting held last Wednesday.

A highlight of the meeting was the recognition of Larry Crowe of Crowe Investment Company as the Chamber's Member of the Month. Crowe was also surprised with special birthday wishes from those in attendance.

Crowe was honored for his continued commitment to preserving Sallisaw's history while investing in projects that enhance the community's future. Among his most notable efforts is the development of the Big Toy Museum, located in the former middle school building. The attraction showcases classic cars, trucks, motorcycles, tractors, fire trucks, and other historic vehicles, drawing visitors from throughout the region.

In addition to his investment projects, Crowe has played a significant role in beautification and revitalization efforts throughout Sallisaw, including improvements to parks, downtown spaces, and other community gathering areas. He also spearheaded the restoration of the historic former Sallisaw High School Auditorium, which has once again become a venue for performances, events, and community activities.

The meeting also featured appearances by newly crowned Miss Diamond Daze 2026 Madi-Belle Stump and Teen Miss Diamond Daze 2026 Kennedy Garrett. Pageant Director Deree Stafford introduced the titleholders and congratulated them on their recent accomplishments during the annual Diamond Daze Festival.

Several upcoming community events were announced during the luncheon. The annual Sallisaw Independence Day fireworks display is scheduled for Sunday, July 5, at the Sallisaw Sports Complex. Chamber members also announced that the Sallisaw Lion's Club Rodeo will take place July 30 through Aug. 1, with performances beginning nightly at 8 p.m.

The keynote presentation was delivered by Juliana Cueva and Ella Wood of Oklahoma State University's Rural Renewal Initiative. Introduced by Debbie Phillips, the speakers discussed the Rural Scholars Program, which places college students in rural communities for a 10-week immersive experience focused on research, service, and community engagement.

Students work alongside local leaders and OSU faculty to identify community challenges, conduct research, and develop evidence-based solutions tailored to local needs.

The Rural Renewal Initiative's mission is to strengthen rural communities through interdisciplinary research, student involvement, and community partnerships. The program seeks to foster long-term, sustainable growth and renewal in rural areas across Oklahoma and beyond.
