Commissioners focus on assessor, roads



Tuesday, June 15, 2021 - The Sequoyah County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a resolution Monday that will allow new Tax Assessor Brandy Hobbs to contract with a private appraisal firm for certain services to assist her staff.


Hobbs will retain Roger Crawford of East Central Oklahoma Appraisal, LLC, to work on improved parcels to make it more efficient for her staff. Hobbs said Crawford does similar work for McIntosh and Pittsburg counties and he will work on approximately 4,500 improved parcels for Sequoyah County.


The commissioners also approved a plan to go out for bid on repairs on an existing low-water crossing on Barnoskie Cemetery Road (East 970) in District 2. They also approved emergency repairs of the Cato Creek Bridge on Lake Tenkiller NBI 29314 in District 2.


In addition, the commissioners approved District 3's payment of $1,355 to Hawkins Weir for its work on the Redwood Resurfacing Project.
