Cherokee Nation Opens Applications for Children's Clothing Assistance Program

Wednesday, June 30, 2026 —The Cherokee Nation is now accepting applications for its annual Children's Clothing Assistance Program, providing eligible families with financial assistance to help offset back-to-school clothing expenses.

The program offers a one-time payment of $150 for income-eligible Cherokee Nation citizens under the age of 19. Tribal officials noted that there are no residency restrictions for this year's program, allowing eligible Cherokee citizens to apply regardless of where they live.

Applications are available through the Cherokee Nation's online Gadugi Portal and must be submitted by 5 p.m. CST on Friday, July 10, 2026.

To qualify, applicants must be enrolled Cherokee Nation citizens as of June 30, 2026, be under 19 years of age, and meet income requirements. Household income must not exceed 150 percent of the federal poverty guidelines based on household size.

The annual program is designed to help Cherokee Nation families prepare for the upcoming school year by easing the financial burden of purchasing school clothing for children.

For questions regarding eligibility or the application process, contact the Cherokee Nation at 918-453-5058 to speak with staff assisting with the program.
