Friday, June 4, 2021 - The Cherokee Nation General Election will be held Saturday, June 5, and polls will be open at precincts from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Voters are asked to practice social distancing, wear masks and wash their hands before and after voting to ensure the election is safe and accessible for all Cherokee citizens. Precinct officials will also be taking temperatures at the door, as well as adding the additional measures of cleaning and sanitizing booths between voters.
The following candidates are vying for office:
District 2: Candessa Tehee, Dusty Fore, Vicki Creel, Claude Stover, Bobby Slover, Tonya Teaney and Jami Murphy.
District 4: Sarah Cowett and Mike Dobbins.
District 5: E.O. Smith, Richard W. Tyler and RL Bell.
District 7: Gina Kirk, David Comingdeer and Joshua Sam.
District 9: Mike Shambaugh, Lawrence Panther and Joyce Nix McCarter.
District 10: Melvina Shotpouch, Darrel Hicks, Shaunda Handle-Davis, Cody Williams, Dennis Ackley and JohnAnn Masters Thompson.
District 11: Mason Hudson, Victoria M. Vazquez, Randy Junior White and Mike Purcell.
District 15: Danny Callison and Meredity Frailey.
At-Large: Wallace Ryan Craig, Marilyn Vann, Mary-Charlotte Grayson, Shawna Johnson, Matthew Benjamin Scraper, Robin Mayes, Kyle Haskins and Johnny Jack Kidwell.
