Wednesday, December 6, 2023 - A Marble City man was charged Nov. 29 with failure to register as a sex offender, court records show.
Xavier Francis Haynes, 47, faces up to five years in prison, a fine of up to $5,000 or both if he is convicted of the charge.
On Nov. 13, a Sequoyah County sheriff’s deputy was contacted by Haynes’ wife, who reported that her husband had been arrested in Fort Smith on drug trafficking and other charges. The deputy then informed the woman that Haynes was also in violation of the sex offender act and that her husband would also be facing charges for that.
A call to the Sebastian County jail confirmed that Haynes had been arrested on a drug trafficking charge and he also had several parole violations out of Arkansas.
Haynes had received “notice of duty” to register at his registered address on Nov.1, 2023, requiring him to come to the sheriff’s office no later than Nov. 10, which he failed to do.
