Tuesday, March 15, 2022 - Attention to all runners, walkers, and joggers out there! Diamond Daze is quickly approaching, and this year a new but much anticipated event has been added to the agenda.

The Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce recently announced that they will be hosting the city’s first Diamond Daze Half Marathon, 5K, and Fun Run. The race will take place on Saturday, May 7, and will begin at 8 a.m.

Isaac Barnoskie and Steven Hatcher are the co-race directors for the event, and the two have been hard at work prepping for the big day.

"We are excited about the Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce hosting this first ever Diamond Daze event. The Chamber will be receiving all proceeds made from the race, which they will turn around and put right back into the community. So, it’s a win for everyone. It gives local runners a chance to support their community as well as the opportunity to run throughout the streets of their hometown," Hatcher said.

"One unique fact about this race is that it is the first ever half-marathon in Sallisaw. Therefore, it’s kind of a historic event," Hatcher added.
