Chamber holds Oct. monthly meeting

Monday, October 31, 2022 - Blue Ribbon Auto Group was named the Chamber Member of the Month at the October Sallisaw Chamber membership meeting on Wednesday.

"Blue Ribbon Auto Group has been a Sallisaw chamber member since opening the doors to Blue Ribbon in September 1995. Although the business has been in Sallisaw for the past 27 years, the Spencer family has been retailing automobiles for over 55 years," Chamber President Treye Girdner stated. "Both Buddy and Dwight have served as president of the Sallisaw Chamber and served on the board of directors as well. Over the years, Blue Ribbon Auto Group has supported many organizations in Sallisaw, and we are grateful for their support and dedication to this town. "

This month’s keynote speaker was Rachel Hutchings (pictured above) of Skiatook, Oklahoma. Hutchings formed Rachel Hutchings LLC, dba Chart Consulting, in 2022.

Through her organization, she works with businesses and non-profits to prepare and execute programs, as well as improve existing programs. Hutchings has dedicated her career to community building through non-profit organizational growth and advocacy.

During announcements, there were several upcoming events discussed including the following:

-Halloween on Elm Street, Monday, Oct. 31, from 5-7 p.m.

-The annual Veterans Day ceremony, sponsored by the Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce, will be held Nov. 11 at the ICTC community center and will begin at 11 a.m.

-Merchants' Christmas Open House is Nov. 12 and 13.

-The annual Christmas tree lighting will be Thursday, Nov. 17, at 6 p.m. Santa will be present to visit and take pictures with the children.

-Sequoyah County’s free Thanksgiving dinner will be held on Nov. 23, at the Sallisaw Middle School cafeteria from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
