Monday, May 15, 2023 - Catholic Charities Helping Center in Sallisaw is seeking assistance from the community. The organization recently expressed a need for volunteers and food donations.

"We are currently hosting a food drive to collect food donations for those in need. Several Sequoyah County churches and organizations have stepped up to help out with the food drive by providing boxes for donations at their locations," Catholic Charities Helping Center manager Pam Wemhaner said.

Food donations can be dropped off at any of the following churches: First Christian, United Faith, Immanuel Baptist, First United Methodist, Hanson Baptist, Faith Assembly, and St. Francis Xavier.

Donations can also be dropped off at the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Office and the Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce.

In addition, the helping center currently has volunteer and community service opportunities available at their Sallisaw location.

"Right now we are needing volunteers for our pantry and clothing room three days a week. Volunteer days and times available are Tuesday-Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.," Wemhaner added.

If you would like to become a volunteer at the helping center, contact Wemhaner at (918) 775-6111.
