Friday, October 29, 2021 - Recently, Carl Albert State College was privileged to participate in the raising of the Choctaw flag on the Poteau campus as part of Choctaw Flag Day.
The holiday was established in 2020 to honor the creation of The Great Seal of the Choctaw Nation on October 16, 1860. Representatives of the Choctaw Nation as well as a number of Vikings gathered on Dunlap Oval on Wednesday, October 13, to commemorate the holiday.
“We’re grateful for our successful partnership with the Choctaw Nation,” said President Jay Falkner. “The Choctaw tribe supports a number of initiatives on our campus, as well as all across the Choctaw Nation to provide the highest quality of educational opportunities possible for tribal members.”
