Wednesday, July 9, 2025 — Carl Albert State College (CASC) is proud to announce the upcoming remodel of its Student Center, a major project that will enhance the student experience and align the facility with the college’s modern campus aesthetic.
The remodel is being funded through multiple sources, including significant deferred maintenance funding provided by the state of Oklahoma.
This long-anticipated renovation will address critical infrastructure needs, starting with the correction of ongoing moisture issues that have affected the building over time. In addition, the project will include an expansion of kitchen space and a complete update of the cafeteria, ensuring CASC can better meet the needs of its growing student body.
“This remodel is about more than just fixing problems; it’s about creating a more versatile, welcoming, and student-focused space,” said Dr. Jay Falkner, President of Carl Albert State College. “We’re giving the Student Center a new identity that reflects our vision for the future.”
The project is driven by several key goals, all centered around creating a better, more efficient space for students and the community.
One of the main objectives is improving functionality. With a reimagined layout, the building will become more adaptable and multi-purpose, making it ideal for student activities, events, and broader community use. Flexibility is at the heart of the redesign, allowing the space to evolve alongside the needs of its users.
Another priority is creating a new look and feel. The updated design will align with the campus’s modern aesthetic, providing visual continuity and reinforcing Carl Albert State College’s commitment to growth and innovation. It’s about more than just appearance; it’s about shaping a space that reflects the energy and progress of the institution.
Finally, long-term sustainability plays a vital role in the project’s vision. By reducing maintenance needs, the building envelope will be enhanced to be more durable and user-friendly. This approach ensures both resilience and cost efficiency for years to come.
Construction timelines for the project have ranged from 13 to 24 months, depending on the contractor. CASC anticipates a realistic project duration of approximately 18 months, considering the scope and complexity of the remodel.
The remodeled Student Center will serve as a hub for student life, dining, and campus engagement, offering a modern, vibrant space where students can connect, recharge, and thrive.
