Candidates Announced for Sallisaw Mayor and Area School Board Seats

Monday, January 5, 2026 — Voters across Sequoyah County will soon have the opportunity to shape local leadership as candidates officially enter the race for the City of Sallisaw mayor’s seat and two area school board positions.

The City of Sallisaw mayor’s race features three candidates seeking to lead the city. Those running for mayor include Marley Abell, Jeanne Moore, and Kenny Moody. The mayoral election will determine who will guide city operations, economic development efforts, and community initiatives in the coming term.

Several school board seats are also on the ballot, giving residents a voice in the future of local education.

For the Moffett School Board of Education, three candidates have filed for Office No. 3: Sarah F. Jones, Roger McAfee, and Marie Bowling. The elected board member will help oversee district policies, budgeting, and educational direction for Moffett Public Schools.

The Central School Board of Education also has a contested race for Office No. 3, an unexpired term. Candidates for that seat are Blake Rogers, Sarah Adams, and DeJuna McDonald. The winner will serve the remainder of the term and participate in decisions impacting students, staff, and district operations.

Election officials encourage voters to stay informed about the candidates and their platforms ahead of Election Day.
