Candidate Filing Begins April 1st

 March 18, 2026 — Statewide election activity officially begins on Wednesday, April 1st, at 8 a.m. when the candidate filing period opens.

Candidates for state offices will file with the Secretary of State's Election Board. Candidates for county offices file with the Secretary of the County Election Board.

Sequoyah County Election Board Secretary Ruby Brunk said the following offices are expected to be filled this year:

County AssessorCounty TreasurerCounty Commissioner District #1County Commissioner District #3

All candidate filing periods close Friday, April 3rd, at 5 p.m.

Filing packets for both county and state offices are available for download at oklahoma.gov/elections.

Filing forms and information for county offices can be obtained by contacting the Sequoyah County Election Board at 918-775-2614 or by visiting sequoyahcounty@elections.ok.gov.

The Sequoyah County Election Board is located at 110 E Creek Ave and is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
