A felony arrest warrant was issued July 13 for a Burbank, Okla., man charged with domestic assault.

Joseph Sanders, 40, faces up to 10 years in prison if he is convicted.

On June 21, a Sequoyah County Sheriff's deputy was dispatched to a residence north of Roland in reference to a possible domestic incident. When the deputy arrived, he made contact with Anna Sanders, who said she had been staying at that location with her boyfriend. She also said she had moved there with her brother, Joseph Sanders, in an attempt to get him into rehab.

Anna Sanders said that on June 21, her brother entered her building and began threatening her. She stated that he grabbed her multiple times, threw her around the building, pulled out a long-bladed knife and tried to stab her with it and struck her in the head with his hand.

She said she then pulled a board off the wall and went to strike Joseph with it, but he ran out of the building, closing the doors and locking them behind him, trapping her inside. Anna Sanders refused medical treatment but stated that she wanted to pursue criminal charges against her brother.
