Thursday, May 13, 2021 - Joseph Broadway (above) 37, of Muldrow was arrested Wednesday following an investigation into stolen property conducted by the Sequoyah County Sheriff's Department and the Sallisaw Police Department.
On Monday, May 10 a Dodge flatbed work truck was stolen from the Sallisaw Sports Complex. Sallisaw Police detectives investigating the case were provided information from citizens which led them, and Sequoyah County deputies, to a residence north of Muldrow in the Maple community on Wednesday.
At the residence officers were able to locate and recover the stolen truck along with other stolen items, Sequoyah County Sheriff Larry Lane said.
The recovery and ensuing investigation led to a nearby residence, where Investigators located another flatbed truck partially concealed in a barn. The vehicle was registered to a Muldrow police officer.
When contacted, the Muldrow police officer confirmed the truck was his and stated that as far he knew the truck was at his farm. When officers informed him that it had been located at a residence in Maple, the officer went to his farm and discovered the truck was indeed missing.
Investigators then obtained a search warrant for the residence, and upon execution of the search warrant, were able to locate several other stolen items from Sallisaw. A metal “No Littering” sign belonging to the Sheriff’s Office was also found.
Broadway was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property. Sheriff Lane stated that additional charges are pending.
“Sallisaw PD detectives did a great job following up on a tip from citizens. Once they were able to locate the first truck, they contacted us to assist with the recovery and follow up investigation,” Sheriff Lane stated.
