Boys & Girls Club of Sequoyah County Temporarily Relocates After Flood

Friday, July 11, 2025 – After severe flooding forced an evacuation on Tuesday, July 8, the Boys & Girls Club of Sequoyah County has announced that it will complete the remainder of its summer program at an alternate location.

The Club will reopen on Tuesday, July 15, operating under normal business hours at First Baptist Church in Sallisaw. Drop-off will take place at the gym entrance on West Chickasaw Avenue, directly across from the old skate park.

The temporary move comes as cleanup and restoration continue at the club’s main facility, which sustained flooding due to the heavy rainfall that took place on Tuesday.

CEO of the Boys and Girls Club of Sequoyah County, Laura Kuykendall, stated, “On behalf of our board of directors, club staff, and families and children served, we extend our heartfelt thanks to First Baptist Church for their generosity, hospitality, and unwavering support. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue serving the youth of Sequoyah County.”

Families are encouraged to stay tuned for any further updates. “We can’t wait to welcome our kids back, and we thank you for your patience and understanding as we make this transition,” Kuykendall added.
