Arrest warrant issued for Sallisaw man after unapproved gas charges

Thursday, July 21, 2022 - A felony arrest warrant was issued July 18 for a Sallisaw man charged with embezzlement.

Ashton Gerald Dimick, 24, faces up to two years in the state penitentiary, a fine of up to $5,000 or both.

On July 7, a Sallisaw police officer was dispatched to Buddy’s Home Furnishings to take a report of embezzlement.

When the officer arrived at the store, he spoke with an employee who said his regional manager had contacted him regarding 10 gas purchases between June 6 and June 27 that had no receipts and used double the store’s normal gas consumption for the month.

The store employee told the officer that each Buddy’s truck had its own gas card and each employee has their own code number to keep track of gas expenses.

When he received a copy of the purchase list to compare receipts turned in for June, he discovered that all 10 transactions were from the card issued to Dimick. Some of the purchases were made at multiple times in one day and only a few minutes apart.

The employee called the regional manager and told him he had 10 missing receipts for Dimick and the total amount that had been spent.

Police contacted Dimick, who confessed to making $700 in unauthorized gas purchases.

After being questioned about the unauthorized purchases, Dimick failed to show up at work and he was terminated after three consecutive “no-shows.”
