Area firefighters pull together for Boshers family

Wednesday, July 14, 2021 - Firefighters in Sallisaw, Vian, Gore are teaming up this weekend to raise money for a Vian family facing a terrible loss.

The Sallisaw Fire Department will have a fire truck and banners posted in the Farmer's Market parking lot (in front of Sallisaw Lumber) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, where they will be accepting monetary donations in honor of the Boshers family.

The Boshers family was struck by tragedy last week when Vian Town Administrator Keith Boshers' wife and daughter were killed in a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 40 in Crawford County, Ark. His minor son and granddaughter were seriously injured in the crash. The family was returning from vacation. Keith Boshers had been with the family, but had returned earlier in the week.

The Vian Fire Department will be out beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday, July 17, accepting monetary donations at the town's four-way stop, Mayor and firefighter Dennis Fletcher said. “We as a fire department wanted to do something to help,” he said.

In Gore, firefighters from RFPD1 will be stationed at Dave's Bait & Tackle and Harps on Saturday, July 17, from noon until 2 p.m., where they will also be accepting donations for the family.
