Friday, November 10, 2023 - Members of the Sequoyah County Resource Network have been busy preparing for the 9th annual free community Thanksgiving dinner.
The event is set to take place on Wednesday, November 22, at the Sallisaw Middle School Cafeteria from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and everyone is welcome to attend.
Each year, organizers aim to create a warm, family-like atmosphere for all guests to enjoy. Families and individuals can relax as they are greeted, seated, and served their entire meal without ever having to leave their table.
This year’s dinner will feature a full Thanksgiving feast, including turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes, green beans, and rolls.
In addition, the KATS bus will provide free transportation to and from the dinner for those living within Sallisaw city limits.
It is important to note that carry-out meals will not be available until 12:30 p.m. This is to ensure there is enough food available for those attending in person.
The group is seeking donations of desserts, such as cookies, cakes, and pies, as they plan to serve approximately 600 meals.
If you wish to donate desserts for the event, you can contact Melissa Lowe at 918-776-0848, and they will arrange to pick up the donated items.
The Sallisaw Middle School Cafeteria is located at 2101 West Ruth Ave. in Sallisaw.
