Tuesday, February 7, 2023 - Central High Road between Redwood and the railroad crossing north of Central Public Schools will be closed to thru traffic starting Tuesday, February 7, for bridge and road repair.
The projected completion date for the project is estimated to be 180 days; however, this does not include any weather delays that may occur.
Sequoyah County Commissioner for District 3, Jim Rogers, stated, "I understand that this is an inconvenience for many, but it is necessary."
Rogers explained that the railroad crossing is steep and hazardous, so during the first stage of the project, crews will build the roadway up about five feet.
The next phase will extend from the tracks south past Hanson Baptist Church. The area being repaired during this phase will be the roadway behind the school's concession stand.
