Friday, July 7, 2023 - The 79th annual Sallisaw Lions Club IPRA Championship Rodeo is scheduled to take place at the Sallisaw Rodeo grounds on August 3, 4, and 5.
Admission fees for adults are $10, and kids 6–10 years old are $5. Children 5 and under are free. The general rodeo begins each night at 8 p.m.
The excitement is set to kick off on August 3 with a Rodeo parade at 5:30 p.m. Those participating in the parade will line up at 5 p.m. at the rodeo grounds.
The three-day, action-packed rodeo offers a variety of events that are sure to capture the attention of all ages. Each year, the rodeo clown brings plenty of laughter to the arena in addition to the wild horse races, bull riding and roping, pony rides, barrel racing, and more.
The smallest rodeo fans will have the opportunity for some Mutton Bustin' each night at 6:30 p. m. Children must be ages 4–8 and weigh under 50 lbs. to compete.
Signups for Mutton Bustin’ take place each night at 5:30 p.m. at the contestant entry gate. The entry fee is $15 per contestant, and the top ten placings will ride again in the main rodeo. The nightly winner will receive $50 along with a plaque.
Live music and a rodeo dance will be held on both Friday and Saturday nights after the rodeo. On Friday night, Osage County takes the stage after the rodeo concludes. Saturday night’s rodeo after-show is set to feature the band Potential Getaway Drivers.
So, put on your cowboy boots and head out to enjoy some thrilling displays of skill, bravery, and fun at the 79th Annual Sallisaw Lions Club Rodeo!
