Sunday, March 23, 2025– The 44th annual Sequoyah County Oklahoma Home and Community Education (OHCE) Quilt Show and Bake Sale will return on April 4-5 at the Sequoyah County Fair Building. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.
This beloved local tradition showcases exquisite quilts from talented community members and offers visitors the chance to purchase baked goods, hand-crafted items, and even a delicious lunch.
Those wishing to submit quilts can pick up entry forms at the OSU Extension Service Office, located at 120 E. Chickasaw, Suite 107, in the Sequoyah County Courthouse. Completed entry forms must be submitted by April 3. To be included in the official quilt show booklet, entries should be received by March 27 and mailed to BJ Covington at 102507 S. 4570 Road, Vian, OK 74962.
Participants may submit up to three quilts, prioritized by numbering them 1 through 3. Quilts must be hand or machine-stitched, fully finished, or hemmed, and should not have been displayed at previous Sequoyah County quilt shows.
Quilts must be delivered to the fair building between 7:30 a.m. and noon on Thursday, April 3. Each quilt should have the owner’s name, address, and phone number pinned to the lower right-hand corner of the back. Release forms will be provided during check-in and must be presented when picking up quilts after the show, which will be available for collection after 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Admission to the quilt show is $5 per person. Attendees can also purchase tickets for a raffle to win a stunning queen-sized Lone Star variation quilt titled “Stars in a Midnight Sky.” This quilt was hand-pieced by the late Charlotte Covington, a beloved longtime Sequoyah County resident. Raffle tickets are $2 each or three for $5 and will be available at the door.
Tables will be filled with hand-crafted items and delicious baked goods, including cakes, pies, cookies, fried pies, and more. Lunch will be available for purchase on Friday for $12 and will feature a hearty menu of chicken and dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, rolls, assorted salads, dessert, and a drink. Snacks and drinks will also be available for purchase on Saturday.
For more information, contact BJ Covington at 918-774-2215 or Donna Jamison at 918-774-8445.
