11th Annual Back to School Roundup Set for August 2 in Sallisaw

Tuesday, July 8, 2025 - Organizers are gearing up for the 11th Annual Back to School Roundup, a free community event offering backpacks, school supplies, and family fun. The event will take place on Saturday, August 2, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Sallisaw Rodeo Grounds.

This year, 650 backpacks filled with school supplies will be distributed to students from Sequoyah County. To be eligible, students must be present and live within the county.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. outside the rodeo gates, and the gates will open at 10 a.m.

In addition to the giveaway, families can enjoy games, activities, and food provided by local businesses and community organizations. The National Bank of Sallisaw will be grilling hot dogs, and The Mix 105.1 will broadcast live with music and announcements.

As a grand finale, one lucky boy and one lucky girl will each take home a brand-new bicycle, with the drawings scheduled to take place between 11:30 and 11:45 a.m.
