March 11, 2026 — The 33rd Annual Day of Caring, organized by the United Way of Fort Smith, is set to take place on Thursday, April 16, bringing volunteers together for a day of service across the Fort Smith region.
Considered one of the largest single-day volunteer events in the area, Day of Caring connects community members with local nonprofit organizations that need extra help with projects. Volunteers assist with a variety of hands-on tasks, including landscaping, painting, cleaning facilities, maintenance work, and other improvement projects that help agencies better serve those in need.
Last year’s event drew more than 800 volunteers from across the region, demonstrating the impact community members can make when they come together for a common purpose. Organizers say the event not only helps nonprofit organizations complete projects they may not otherwise have the time or resources to finish, but it also strengthens partnerships throughout the community.
Volunteers can participate individually or as part of a team. Businesses, civic groups, families, and other community organizations are all encouraged to take part in the annual day of service.
Those interested in volunteering are encouraged to register soon. The deadline to sign up and receive a free Day of Caring T-shirt is March 17. Registration will remain open after March 17; however, T-shirts will not be guaranteed.
More information and volunteer registration are available on the United Way of Fort Smith website at unitedwayfortsmith.org.

"It is so inspiring to see such a long-standing tradition of volunteering and community care! It reminds me of the importance of consistency and protection in our own lives. In my home, we find that same sense of peace and security every night by reciting Surah Mulk together. Just as the Day of Caring provides a safety net for the community, this practice offers us a spiritual shield and a moment of reflection before the day ends. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful call to action!"
