Sequoyah County Health Department continues flu, COVID vaccinations

Tuesday, December 28, 2021 - The Sequoyah County Health Department is currently providing curbside COVID-19 testing along with COVID and flu vaccinations.

Jennifer Avery, Public Information Officer for the Sequoyah County Health Department, said, "The health department will be offering these services as long as there is a need and right now there is no end in sight."

COVID-19 curbside testing takes place on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Once you arrive for curbside testing, you will need to call the health department to check in.

Appointments are not required; however, for faster service, you can reserve a testing appointment prior to your arrival at https://osdh.immytech.com/. If you do not have access to the internet, you can contact the health department for assistance.

Avery explained, "The types of tests we receive vary each week. However, we have learned that those who reserve appointments online and give consent for their information to be sent via text, obtain their test results a lot faster.”

Flu and COVID-19 vaccinations are being administered on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. to 10 a.m., and 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Walk-ins for vaccinations are welcome, but it is important to note that wait times will vary depending on the availability of staff and the number of scheduled appointments each day.

To schedule an appointment, you can visit www.vaccinate.ok.gov. or call the Sequoyah County Health Department for assistance.

The Health Department will be closed on Friday, Dec. 31, but will resume normal operating hours on Jan. 3.

"With the holidays, some testing results have been delayed due to the labs' being closed, but once we start the new year, everything should be running like normal again," Avery added.

The Sequoyah County Health Department is located at 612 N. Oak St., Sallisaw. For questions regarding testing or vaccinations, you can contact the Health Department at 918-775-6201. You can also go to their Facebook page, which is updated each Sunday with testing and vaccination dates and times for the upcoming week.
