Thursday, January 1, 2026 — The Sequoyah County Assessor’s Office is taking its services on the road this year, offering in-person assistance to help residents file ad valorem tax exemptions and complete required paperwork during the upcoming exemption filing period.
Rather than asking residents to come to the courthouse, Assessor’s Office staff will host a series of evening outreach events across Sequoyah County. At each location, staff will be available to answer questions, explain filing requirements, and assist with submitting exemption applications.
Residents will be able to receive help filing several types of exemptions, including Homestead, Double Homestead, Senior Freeze, and 100% Disabled Veteran exemptions. Those applying for Double Homestead or Senior Freeze exemptions are reminded that household gross income verification must be provided at the time of filing.
In addition to exemption assistance, the Assessor’s Office will also be accepting personal property renditions for businesses, agricultural accounts, and mobile homes.
The outreach schedule includes multiple locations and dates to better serve communities throughout the county. Events will be held January 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. at RFPD #1, located at 446989 U.S. Highway 64 in Vian; February 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sallisaw Auditorium, 218 W. Creek Ave.; February 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Brushy Community Building, 465406 E. 1010 Road; February 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Brent Fire Department, 46194 Highway 141 in Gans; and February 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the MCCO Building, 603 N. Main St. in Muldrow.
Officials encourage residents to take advantage of these outreach opportunities to ensure exemptions and renditions are filed correctly and on time.
