Rutherford Warns Residents to Keep an Eye on Weather

Monday, May 17 - This week might be a bumpy one, Steve Rutherford, Sequoyah County's Emergency Management director, warned Monday.

Forecasters are predicting widespread rain throughout the week, with chances of thunderstorms, some possibly severe, nearly every day.

Rutherford said some models forecast between 3 and 4 inches of rain in the next 5-7 days, which could cause another round of flash flooding in an already saturated Sequoyah County.

Residents should just be aware of their surroundings and be prepared if their situation becomes dangerous during bad weather, Rutherford said.
